MAC Mineralize Skinfinish | Lightscapade and Soft & Gentle

Hi everyone this is my first blog post and hopefully not my last!

Moving on to the makeup, I recently purchased two Mineralize Skinfinishes from Mac (Lightscapade and Soft & Gentle) after hearing and seeing so much about them I wanted to give my thoughts on them.

Soft & Gentle is definitely a highlighter that will stand out. It has a sheen to it which when on the skin gives a very lit within kind of glow whereas Lightscapade is much more on the natural side and will give a subtle highlight that will make your skin look healthy. I find with Lightscapade you do need to layer it up bit more if you want to achieve a more obvious highlight but if you love natural highlights then this will be perfect for you. At first look Soft & Gentle looks very glittery and i thought that it would be hard to wear as an everyday highlighter but when you actually apply it to the face i feel as if the glitter is much less obvious and just gives a gorgeous sheen instead.

When wearing these both I love to dust them on my cheek bones and on the top of my lip. A good tip i find to make Lightscapade to stand out bit more is to apply a bit of Macs Fix+ on the brush that I am going to use (I like to use the Real Techniques Setting Brush) and that gives it more of a wet luminous appearance.

Left to right; Lightscapade (MAC), Mary Lou Manizer (The Balm Cosmetics), Gold bronze (Seventeen instant glow shimmer brick), Iridescent Gold (Makeup Academy undress your skin shimmer highlighter) Luminous (Urban Decay Naked Illuminated shimmering powder)

Above I have compared Lightscapade to some other highlighters that I have and as you can see lightscapade is not as pigmented as some of these others but it is definitely one of the lightest shades so if you have pale skin I would recommend this product!

Pricing: Both of these Skinfnishes can be picked up for around £23 from MAC or Debenhams or any other department stores in the UK (John Lewis/House of Fraser)

Overall: I would definitely purchase both of these products again I don't really have anything else like these in my makeup collection so they will definitely become a staple for me and my makeup routine! By choice I would probably choose Soft & Gentle over Lightscapade purely because it gives a more luminous sheen to the skin and that is the type of highlighter that I crave for. I feel as if Lightscapade would be a very good everyday natural looking highlight and it is great for those of us that have pale skin and have a hard time finding a decent highlighter!

What are your favourite highlighters??
