My Top 10 Favourite Powder Highlighters

Hey my loves!

Today I'm going to be talking about my top all time favourite powder highlighters and why I think they are so great!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed - Opal
This highlighter is so stunning! It is described as being a 'golden opal pearl'. I'm sure the whole internet has heard about this highlighter but I was so late in picking this up if I'm honest. I think I thought because I'm fairly pale (NW20/NW25 from MAC) that this highlighter would not look cute but now I own it I honestly think so many different skin tones could pull this off. The thing I love most about this product is it really does make your skin look like it's lit from within - you just have a gorgeous healthy glow and it doesn't have massive chunks of glitter so it looks really natural but still intense. I apply this to all the high points on my face and I love it for a little pop on the inner corner of the eye.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator - Gilded Honey
Now I love all the colours in this range from Laura Geller but I think that Gilded Honey is my absolute favourite. I tend to use this most when I have a tan since it just makes you look sun kissed and healthy so I would not advise this for people that are really fair. The highlighter is really natural on the skin but you can build it up for more of a dramatic in your face look, this shade is also very unique to my collection. My downsides to this product is I absolutely hate the packaging which is just your basic run-of-the-mill clear plastic, I feel like for the price you pay the packaging could be improved. This also wouldn't be great for on the go since there is no mirror - but in saying that because the highlighter is so dinky it can easily be carried around without taking up too much space.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighter - Soft and Gentle
This highlighter is an oldie but I still totally adore this! It's much less subtle and more in your face than most of the highlighters I will be mentioning - it has more noticeable glitter. In saying all of that it still looks stunning on the face, you will love this if you like a having really glowy looking skin. It's a peachy kind of tone so I think this would suit lots of different skin tones. The thing I love about this highlighter is that I can use it for a couple of weeks and then get over it and try something new but I always end up coming back. The packaging is a black plastic with a clear portion on the lid so that you can see the product. I wish it had a mirror but I think it would be good travel with since it's quite sturdy.

The Balm - 'Mary-Lou Manizer'
The Mary-Lou Manizer is a gorgeous goldy champagne highlighter which is really pigmented and adds a stunning sheen to the face. The formula for this highlighter is so creamy and it glides on the skin and looks natural yet intense and on my dry skin it does not show any texture. I think this product would best suit fair to medium skin tones since it is quite light. The packaging is very unique and contains a mirror which is great for on the go. I find that it lasts a really long time on the skin and the longer I wear it, the more it like blends into my skin? It's a super easy highlighter to work with so I suggest this for people that might just be starting out with makeup.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit - Sun Dipped
So in this palette you get 4 highlighters so this would make a great first highlighter palette and I think the shades in this palette would suit a variety of different skin tones. When I use this I just tend to mix everything together except the darkest shade since that will be more of a bronzer topper for me. The shades are inspired by the different phrases of the sun. The highlighters themselves are very buttery and blend really beautifully into the skin, these can become very intense very quickly so if you're not into that then I suggest you use a light hand. I also find these can accentuate pores and texture on your face but using a pore minimising primer will help combat this.

Urban Decay Afterglow highlighter - Sin
I was drawn to this highlighter because of the name, I thought it might be a highlighter version of sin from the original naked palette (it's not). But this looks beautiful on the skin, more natural than some of the others I've mentioned, it doesn't make your skin look textured and it is really easy to build up if you do like intense highlight. I love the packaging because it looks sleek and high-end, I think it would travel well although it does not include a mirror. I think this highlighter is best suited for people with a fairer complexion but I believe Urban Decay has a couple of other shades that would look gorgeous on deeper skin tones. Sin lasts a really long time on the skin.

Jeffree Star Skin Frost - Ice Cold
Right so I am an OG lover of Jeffree Star so I was really excited when these came out, I love the pink packaging and the compact is seriously huge and includes a large mirror. The highlight itself is one of the most intense and pigmented that I own. I brought the shade Ice Cold because I do love an icy white glow so I thought this would be great - which it is but in reality this particular shade is probably a bit too light for me so if I'm not careful I can get a really visible line which look a bit odd. But seriously the glow.. Jeffree has so many different shades so if you are of a darker complexion then you will still be able to find one to suit your skin.

Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish - Double Gleam
This is a highlighter that is described as being a 'beige that breaks silver', I agree with this since it gives me a really icy sheen to face. It is very pigmented but looks really natural, there are little chunks of glitter within the formula but they don't look noticeable on the skin. It lasts a really long time on the skin I'd say around 7-8 hours before it starts to fade. This shade would be best suited for people that are fair but it does suit a variety of different skin tones since it does have a lot of dimension to it.

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter - Iridescent Gold
This is amazing and for the price it's crazy! This highlighter really remind me of Nars Albatross in the sense it's like that white that reflects a goldy colour - not my usual shade of highlight but it looks really pretty on the skin. I'm not feeling the packaging to be honest which is just a clear plastic lid and compact but the price point is killing it so I'm not complaining. The texture of this highlighter is very smooth and it glides on to the skin really nicely, without bringing out pores and texture. I highly recommend that if you are on a budget then you hop yourself down to Superdrug and give these a go.

Makeup Revolution I heart Makeup - Goddess Of Love Highlighter
So straight of the bat this highlighter is in the shape of a heart which is so cute! Totally low key reminds me of the boxed blushes from Too Faced. When I first brought this I ordered it online and when I received it the highlighter had actually broke which was a total bummer so I'm thinking because of the flimsy cardboard-esque packaging that these might not travel too well. But besides the packaging situation this is a really natural glowy highlighter. The powder is finely milled and smooth and gives a very subtle appearance. I find that this highlighter does fade on the skin fairly quickly but it is really affordable so I'm not mad about it.
